Full Description
Project info
We are looking for a hardware-focused QA engineer to test ChromeOS devices and meeting-room AV peripherals for a large enterprise video-conferencing hardware program. The work is device-centric: you run manual and automated tests against real hardware in a lab (client-provided remote lab plus, where available, nearshore/offshore bench capacity), and you feed what you find into the same bug-triage pipeline the release engineering team uses to ship fixes.
Responsibilities
Execute manual and automated testing across ChromeOS meeting-room hardware: compute units, laptops/tablets and AV systems.
Test the AV peripheral matrix: microphones, soundbars, PTZ cameras, touch controllers. Validate USB, HDMI and display pipelines, CEC signaling and peripheral firmware updates. Execute testing using the client's internal hardware lab remotely, alongside any nearshore/offshore lab bench the team operates. Log findings into the shared bug-triage system with correct classification, priority and component assignment; help reproduce complex multi-device and peripheral interaction issues. Support the release team in reaching 100% planned-vs-actual test coverage against the agreed release-candidate test matrix. Contribute to the team's move toward AI-assisted test execution and reporting, helping automate the repetitive parts of the job.
Job requirements
Direct, hands-on experience testing ChromeOS or comparable embedded/laptop hardware and AV peripherals. Comfortable validating USB/HDMI/display pipelines and CEC signaling. Experience working with code-review/version-control systems (Gerrit, Git) and enterprise issue-tracking platforms (e.g. Jira or similar). Ability to reliably cover a mandatory 4-6 hour daily overlap with US Eastern Time.
An automation mindset: comfortable using AI-assisted tooling to speed up repetitive parts of test execution, log review and reporting, rather than doing every step by hand.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with video-conferencing-room peripheral firmware (cameras, soundbars, touch controllers) and vendor test harnesses.
- Experience with firmware-update utilities for legacy peripheral compute units.
