About the Role
The Automation & Robotics Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers responsible for delivering automation, robotics, and manufacturing technology projects across Clarios' recycling network. This role combines engineering leadership, automation expertise, project management, vendor management, and continuous improvement. The position will identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, safety, sustainability, and operational performance through innovative automation solutions.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of automation engineers across multiple manufacturing and recycling sites. Design, build, integrate, and deploy automation and robotic systems. Identify opportunities to implement advanced manufacturing technologies and robotics. Lead automation projects from concept and scope definition through implementation and post-launch support. Develop project charters, schedules, cost estimates, budgets, milestones, and benefit assessments. Standardize manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and processes across regional facilities. Collaborate with plant leaders, process SMEs, product engineering teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders. Evaluate and manage automation technology vendors and external suppliers. Negotiate vendor requirements, project timelines, and technical deliverables. Manage project budgets and monitor cost, schedule, and resource performance. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation and contingency plans. Ensure automation systems comply with environmental, safety, and sustainability requirements. Apply data-driven continuous improvement methodologies to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Research and evaluate emerging automation, robotics, and manufacturing technologies. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers. Prepare technical documentation, project plans, specifications, and management reports. Present project status, technical progress, financial performance, and recommendations to senior leadership. Support integration of new technologies with existing manufacturing infrastructure. Provide post-implementation support and conduct project performance reviews. Travel to regional and global sites as required to support automation initiatives. Act as a technical expert for battery recycling processes and develop automation solutions around those processes.
Qualifications
7–10 years of experience in Automation Engineering. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. Preferred backgrounds include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Robotics Engineering.
