Job Title: Manual Test Engineer

Reports to: Delivery Manager

Location: Bengaluru, India, Hybrid

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Manual Test Engineer with 3 to 4 years of experience in software testing. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in database testing, API testing, API integration testing, and defect investigation.

The role involves working closely with different product, development, and business teams to understand requirements, validate product functionality, investigate defects, and support the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design and execute manual test cases for functional, regression, integration, system, and end-to-end testing. Validate application workflows, product integrations, and release readiness. Perform database testing and write SQL queries to verify data accuracy and backend transactions. Test REST APIs and validate requests, responses, status codes, and data integrity. Identify, log, track, and retest defects throughout the testing lifecycle. Investigate issues using application logs, API responses, and database records. Collaborate with developers and cross-functional teams to resolve defects and integration issues. Provide regular updates on testing progress, risks, and quality status.

Required Skills & Experience

3 to 4 years of experience in manual software testing. Strong experience in functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing. Hands-on experience in database testing and writing SQL queries. Practical experience in testing REST APIs using tools such as Postman or similar. Experience in API integration testing across multiple applications or product platforms. Strong experience in defect identification, investigation, documentation, and retesting. Ability to review logs, database records, and API responses during defect investigation. Experience working with different product, development, and business teams. Good understanding of the software development and testing life cycles. Experience working in Agile or Scrum delivery environments. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

Experience with test management and defect-tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar. Basic understanding of automation testing concepts. Familiarity with JSON, XML, Swagger, or OpenAPI documentation. Experience testing web-based or enterprise applications. Basic knowledge of CI/CD and release processes. ISTQB Foundation Level certification or an equivalent testing qualification. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
