**Top 3 responsibilities: **

  • Develop and maintain automated test frameworks/suites (functional/regression/end-to-end)

  • Design and execute API, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing; embed QA across SDLC

  • Identify, document, and manage defects through resolution; support test planning/estimation in Agile

  • Must-have skills:

    • Commercial QA/testing experience

    • Ability to develop automated tests in Scala

    • CI/CD hands-on experience and familiarity with automation best practices

    • API/microservices/distributed systems testing experience

    • Stakeholder management/communication; working effectively in Agile delivery

    • BPSS eligible/required

  • Nice-to-haves:

    • Government/GDS/public sector programme experience

    • Performance, security, and/or non-functional testing

    • Exposure to AWS/Azure/GCP

    • Large-scale digital transformation experience

    • Accessibility standards knowledge

  • Location & work type:

    • London or Leeds; onsite once per sprint

RedRock Consulting are partnered with a leading consultancy delivering a major UK Government digital programme and are seeking an experienced QA / Test Engineer with Scala expertise to join a high-performing agile team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of large-scale digital services that support millions of users across the UK while working within a modern engineering environment focused on automation, quality, and continuous delivery.

What You'll Be Doing ✅ Developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites ✅ Designing and executing functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing ✅ Working closely with Developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Delivery Teams ✅ Embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle ✅ Contributing to automated testing within CI/CD pipelines ✅ Identifying, documenting, and managing defects through to resolution ✅ Supporting test planning, estimation, and quality assurance activities within agile teams

What We're Looking For ✔ Strong commercial experience within Software Testing / QA ✔ Proven experience developing automated tests using Scala ✔ Experience testing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems ✔ Strong understanding of test automation frameworks and best practices ✔ Hands-on experience working within CI/CD environments ✔ Familiarity with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar ✔ Strong stakeholder management and communication skills ✔ Experience working within Agile delivery teams

Nice to Have ⭐ Experience working on Government, GDS, or wider Public Sector programmes ⭐ Performance, security, or non-functional testing experience ⭐ Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP environments ⭐ Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation programmes ⭐ Understanding of accessibility standards and digital service best practices
