About The Role

Northramp is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer to join our team supporting a federal program based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. This primarily remote role involves leading the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of automated testing solutions across cloud-based applications and development environments. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that new functionalities, updates, and releases meet high standards for quality, security, accessibility, and performance. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with software engineers, architects, DevSecOps teams, product owners, security personnel, and program leadership within an Agile framework such as SAFe. Your contributions will also influence the broader quality assurance strategy, including test planning, defect prevention, and federal audit readiness.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience considered. 3-5 years of experience in software quality assurance with a focus on test automation engineering. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript. Experience with test automation frameworks and tools including Selenium, Katalon, JMeter, Axe by Deque, and Postman. Familiarity with integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Harness, GitHub Actions, or similar tools. Understanding of software development life cycles, Agile methodologies, and shift-left testing practices. Experience working within federal compliance environments, including FedRAMP, FISMA, or NIST standards. Experience with Google Cloud platform. Previous federal contracting or government program experience. Certifications such as ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Level.

U. S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or higher security clearance.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated tests for functional, regression, integration, API, performance, security, and accessibility testing. Build and enhance scalable test automation frameworks, reusable components, and testing standards to improve coverage and support frequent software releases. Translate requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria into traceable test cases and automated test scenarios. Apply test-driven development and shift-left testing practices throughout the software development lifecycle. Validate application functionality across various environments including development, staging, and pre-production. Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Harness or similar orchestration platforms. Establish automated quality gates to prevent non-compliant or insecure code from progressing through the delivery pipeline. Partner with DevSecOps and engineering teams to troubleshoot build failures, environment issues, and deployment defects. Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, scripts, and documentation ensuring audit readiness and compliance with federal standards. Support updates to QA and QC plans, application test strategies, and lifecycle documentation. Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects, performing root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions. Develop and execute performance, load, stress, and resilience tests to validate system responsiveness and capacity. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to validate remediation of vulnerabilities and security compliance. Conduct accessibility testing in accordance with Section 508 and federal accessibility standards. Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and other Agile ceremonies. Present testing results, quality metrics, and risk assessments to technical teams and program leadership. Mentor team members and promote best practices in quality engineering and automation.
