Full Description

Expected compensation: 111.59 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a hands-on Firmware Validation Engineer to validate in-cabin connected experiences and ensure the quality, reliability, and release readiness of audio and streaming features.

In this role, you’ll own day-to-day validation and defect quality across assigned feature areas, with a focus on manual feature testing, expanding test coverage, root-causing defects, and triaging field issues. You’ll work across bench and in-vehicle environments to identify problems, close coverage gaps, and partner with firmware and integration teams to drive issues through resolution.

The ideal candidate is an experienced firmware or embedded systems validation engineer with strong hands-on testing, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills. You’re comfortable working with connectivity technologies, analyzing complex logs, and independently driving defects from initial reproduction through verification and regression testing.

As a Firmware Validation Engineer, You'll

Execute functional, integration, regression, and exploratory testing of audio and streaming features across bench and in-vehicle environments. Develop and maintain test cases and suites, identify under-tested functionality, and systematically expand coverage as features evolve. Reproduce and root-cause defects using tools such as Wireshark, DLT, ADB, HCI/Bluetooth traces, and vehicle logs before handing issues off to firmware owners. Own first-line triage of audio and streaming issues reported from the field, reproducing problems in the lab, narrowing their scope, and partnering with fleet support, diagnostics, and firmware teams to drive resolution. Manage defects through the full lifecycle in Jira, including clear reproduction steps, supporting logs, severity rationale, fix verification, and regression follow-up. Maintain test benches, in-vehicle rigs, and diagnostic setups while partnering with firmware leads, product managers, and integration teams to align on feature readiness and defect priorities.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline 8+ years of hands-on validation or QA engineering experience with firmware or embedded products Demonstrated experience developing and executing test plans and test cases, identifying and closing coverage gaps, and managing defects through the full lifecycle Hands-on validation experience with at least one connectivity technology, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular (LTE/5G), GNSS, or vehicle networking Strong root-cause analysis and log-triage skills, including experience with Wireshark, DLT, ADB, or similar diagnostic tools Experience reproducing and isolating defects reported from production or field environments Python scripting skills sufficient to automate repetitive checks and parse logs Experience working in Linux or Ubuntu environments Strong defect-tracking discipline with Jira and Confluence and experience working within agile release cycles

Bonus Qualifications

Experience validating in-cabin entertainment or media casting frameworks Bluetooth stack validation experience, including pairing, A2DP, HFP, AVRCP, and interoperability testing Additional experience with wireless connectivity technologies Previous exposure to autonomous vehicle or robotaxi fleet environments
