Position Summary

Odyssey has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mission Planning Software Test Engineer (SE‑4) supporting the 96 CTG / 45 TS at Eglin AFB, FL under the TMAS III contract. This senior‑level role provides mission planning and software testing expertise focused on bomber or fighter mission planning software, supporting development and evaluation of the Joint Mission Planning System Open Mission System (JOMS). The Test Engineer applies extensive aircrew mission planning experience to support software testing, develop evaluation methodologies, assess software performance, and advise customers on software quality. This is a full‑time, onsite position at Eglin AFB with travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to

• Plan, coordinate, and monitor test projects requiring modifications to standard practices or instrumentation to obtain valid results
• Plan tests, establish criteria, assess program effectiveness, and analyze unusual test conditions or problems
• Support development, production, design, and procurement activities influencing test facility efficiency and productivity
• Conduct software evaluations that may result in development of new testing techniques or decision‑quality assessments for major program expenditures
• Demonstrate aviation or mission planning experience with software functions, including operational use of comparable systems
• Maintain working knowledge of Technical Orders and aircraft performance charts
• Provide mission planning expertise and serve as an authority on mission planning software quality
• Maintain working knowledge of software under test, including current, previous, future, and associated versions. Ability to conduct mission planning using JMPS is highly desirable
• Apply extensive aircrew experience to evaluate manual mission planning procedures and associated software tools

Apply experience with testing methodologies: unit, integration, system, acceptance testing; familiarity with Air Force directives, CMMI, and AGILE processes Maintain experience in automated mission planning software Perform software evaluations in Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, and UNIX environments

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Active Secret; must be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI

Education: Masters Degree in a Technical Field

Years of Experience: 10 years relevant experience (additional experience may substitute for education)

Certifications: DoD 8140 (Security+CE or higher) required within 6 months of hire Thorough knowledge and extensive experience as a bomber or fighter aircrew member performing mission planning. Ability to work effectively on a team and lead/direct others. Strong writing and briefing skills. Ability to work extended hours when required. Preferred Qualifications

Clearance: TS/SCI Experience with JMPS mission planning software Familiarity with USAF developmental/test processes Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Technical Skills Extensive military aircrew experience accomplishing mission planning for bomber or fighter aircraft Deep knowledge of mission planning procedures and techniques Experience planning and evaluating complex software test projects Experience with JMPS mission planning software (highly desired) Familiarity with USAF developmental and test processes Experience with unit, integration, system, and acceptance testing Understanding of CMMI and AGILE processes Experience with automated mission planning software Proficiency working with Windows 7/8/10 and UNIX environments Ability to interpret aircraft performance charts and Technical Orders Interpersonal Skills Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to lead, direct, and guide the work of others Clear communication skills including technical writing, briefings, and formal presentations Ability to serve as an authority for mission planning software quality Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements Ability to travel to required meetings, tests, and program events CONUS/OCONUS Additional Information
