SDET ​/​ Automation Engineer – Retail (POS) Full-time, in-person Manhattan Beach, CA PST hours Contract

Job Description TechConsultCo is seeking an experienced SDET ​/​ Automation Engineer (Retail POS) to join an in-person engagement in Manhattan Beach, CA. In this role, you will design, develop, maintain, and execute automated tests for retail point-of-sale (POS) applications, ensuring high-quality releases across POS functionality, integrations, and end-to-end business workflows. You will work closely with development, QA, and business stakeholders to identify defects early, improve test coverage, and integrate automation into CI​/​CD pipelines for continuous testing.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance automation scripts for retail POS applications.

• Design and execute automated test cases to validate POS functionality, integrations, and business workflows.

• Perform functional, regression, and end-to-end testing across retail applications.

• Troubleshoot automation failures, analyze test results, and improve test coverage and reliability.

• Collaborate with development, QA, and business teams to identify defects and ensure quality releases.

• Maintain automation frameworks, test data, and execution processes.

• Integrate automation into CI​/​CD pipelines to support continuous testing and faster feedback cycles.

• Validate retail transactions, payment flows, and customer-facing POS experiences.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in QA Automation ​/​ SDET roles.

• Strong experience in automation script development and ongoing maintenance.

• Proven experience creating and executing automated test scripts for enterprise applications.

• Hands-on knowledge of UI automation and API testing.

• Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.

• Experience working in Agile​/​Scrum environments.

• Ability to analyze requirements and translate them into effective automation solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with the Aptos Retail POS platform.

• Prior in-person retail POS testing experience.

• Experience testing retail store applications and transaction workflows.

• Familiarity with payment processing and retail integrations.

• Experience designing, optimizing, or scaling automation frameworks.

• Experience supporting large-scale retail implementations.
