Role: Director of Flight Test Engineering (Senior/Director level)
Flight-test planning and execution
Test cards, test envelopes, hazard analyses
Data analysis of flight-test results
Safety protocols and regulatory compliance
Cross-functional collaboration with avionics, guidance, software, and mechanical teams
Experience with unmanned and manned aircraft systems; defence/aerospace context
Define overall flight-test strategy and roadmap for interceptor platforms
Plan, execute, and oversee flight-test campaigns (pre-flight, in-flight, post-flight debriefs)
Analyze flight data, validate performance, tune systems, identify and communicate issues; ensure safety/regulatory adherence
Deep experience in flight-test engineering and conducting flight tests
Strong understanding of aircraft systems and aerospace engineering
Proficiency in systems engineering for aerospace
Ability to design, execute, and analyze structured flight-test campaigns
High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent teamwork and cross-functional communication
Bachelor’s or higher in Aerospace Engineering or related field
Defence or aerospace industry experience
Familiarity with drones/UAS is a strong plus
Experience with multiple air vehicles (manned or unmanned), including envelope expansion or performance testing

The Role This is a full-time, on-site role in Stockholm. As Director of Flight Test Engineering, you will own the planning, coordination, and execution of flight tests for Nordic Air Defence systems. Responsibilities Define the overall flight-test strategy and roadmap for our interceptor platforms Plan and execute flight-test campaigns, including test cards, envelopes, and hazard analyses
Lead flight-test operations at the range: pre-flight, test execution, and post-flight debrief Analyse flight data to validate performance, tune systems, and identify issues Ensure rigorous adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements Collaborate closely with avionics, guidance, software, and mechanical teams on test objectives Troubleshoot systems and feed findings back into design improvements and future iterations Qualifications Deep experience in Flight Test Engineering and conducting flight tests Strong understanding of aircraft systems and aerospace engineering Knowledge of systems engineering principles and their application to aerospace systems Proven ability to design, execute, and analyse structured flight-test campaigns Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail Excellent teamwork and communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally Bachelor’s or higher degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field Experience in the defence or aerospace industry Familiarity with drones and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) is a strong advantage Prior experience across multiple air vehicles (manned or unmanned), including envelope expansion or performance testing
