Full Description

Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Company: FinSurgents Location: Lahore (Hybrid) Type: Full-time Experience: 2–4 years

About FinSurgents FinSurgents is a consultancy specialising in embedded finance and fintech solutions. We help banks, fintech startups, regulators, and enterprises integrate digital banking systems across Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), embedded lending, payment infrastructure, and Open Banking. By combining fintech strategy, regulatory expertise, and risk management, we build secure financial ecosystems that improve customer experiences and unlock new revenue. If you want to help shape the future of financial services, we'd like to meet you.

About the Role We're hiring a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team in Lahore on a hybrid schedule. This is a hands-on role for someone with solid testing experience who wants to grow into fintech, where a wrong number means a wrong financial transaction. You'll test our internal products and client implementations, including loan management systems, payment integrations, back-office tools, and mobile apps. You'll work closely with developers, product managers, and consultants, and help build out the test automation framework the whole company will use. We're not expecting lending expertise on day one. We are expecting strong testing fundamentals, care with numbers, and a willingness to learn the domain properly.

What You'll Do

Review requirements and technical specifications early, and raise gaps before development starts Design test plans and write test cases covering functionality, edge cases, and usability Test REST APIs end to end, including authentication, error handling, and duplicate or retried requests Verify loan calculations such as repayment schedules, markup, and penalties against reference models built with our engineers

Write and maintain automated tests in our standard toolkit: Python, pytest, Playwright, and Maestro Use SQL to check that data, balances, and reports match the underlying transactions Test scheduled jobs and event-driven flows, such as nightly calculations and message queues Test back-office web apps (approvals, user roles, audit trails) and mobile apps on real devices Run regression and integration testing through each release cycle, and support client UAT Report defects clearly enough that developers can act on them without a follow-up meeting, and keep test documentation up to date Help improve how we do QA across projects as the team grows

What You'll Bring Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Fintech, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Core Skills

2–4 years in software QA, covering both manual and automated testing Hands-on API testing experience (Postman or similar) Test automation experience in at least one framework, and comfort writing Python (or automation work in another language and readiness to switch) Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, and data validation Comfort with numbers and spreadsheets, and the ability to work through a calculation step by step Enough understanding of software development to read technical documentation and work closely with engineers Experience with bug tracking and test management tools such as Jira or TestRail, and with Git Clear written and verbal communication; your bug reports are part of the product

Nice to Have

Experience testing lending, banking, payments, BNPL, or other financial systems Awareness of regulatory requirements in financial services Exposure to message queues such as RabbitMQ or Kafka Mobile testing experience, manual or automated (Maestro, Appium, or Detox) Familiarity with CI pipelines Comfort using Claude Code or similar AI coding tools

Who We're Looking For

Thinks about how things break, not just how they should work Careful with numbers and willing to prove a result rather than assume it Asks good questions and picks up new domains quickly Structured in how they document and communicate Comfortable working with cross-functional teams in a consulting environment Wants to grow into a senior QA role in fintech over time
