Full Description
Nexio Power is transforming the commercial vehicle industry through innovative propane and renewable propane-powered transportation solutions. Our mission is to deliver cleaner, more sustainable powertrain technologies that provide real-world economic and environmental benefits without compromising performance. As a rapidly growing organization, Nexio offers employees the opportunity to make a direct impact while helping shape the future of alternative-fuel transportation.
Position Summary
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and support fired engine dynamometer test cells used for engine performance, durability, calibration, and validation. Install and service engines, execute approved test plans, verify data quality, and respond to test-cell alarms and equipment failures. Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation to support continuous testing, including engine repair or replacement when needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Set up, operate, monitor, and safely shut down fired-engine dynamometer tests in accordance with established procedures and test plans. Install, remove, and configure engines and associated fuel, cooling, exhaust, electrical, and instrumentation systems. Conduct steady-state and transient engine durability test cycles while monitoring critical operating parameters and systems. Collect, verify, and document test data; identify abnormal operating conditions and communicate findings to engineering and operations leadership. Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair engines and test-cell systems, including engine disassembly, inspection, rebuilding, component replacement, and complete engine changes as required. Inspect, calibrate, and maintain test-cell instrumentation, sensors, and data-acquisition systems in accordance with established procedures. Maintain accurate test records, engine build documentation, equipment maintenance histories, and related documentation. Maintain clean, safe, and organized test cells while complying with applicable safety, environmental, and emergency response procedures. Support after-hours alerts and callouts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. At least two years of relevant experience in engine testing, engine building, or automotive, diesel, or heavy-equipment repair. Demonstrated engine diagnostic, mechanical troubleshooting, and repair capabilities. Ability to follow technical manuals, schematics, written test plans, and safety procedures. Basic computer proficiency and ability to use or learn data-acquisition and test automation software. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment during off-hours response. Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or technical certificate in automotive, diesel, or mechanical technology. Experience with AVL, Horiba, SuperFlow, Dyne Systems, or comparable dynamometer control platforms. ASE certification or comparable credentials. Experience with emissions measurement, ECU calibration tools, CAN-based diagnostics, or instrumentation. Working knowledge of lockout/tagout, hazardous energy control, and test-cell safety systems.
On-Call and Work Schedule
Participate in a rotational 24/7 on-call schedule; rotation frequency: bi-weekly
Required alert acknowledgement time: 15 minutes; required facility arrival time: 60 minutes. Maintain reliable communication and transportation to satisfy approved response requirements. Overtime, extended shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required to maintain test continuity. All hours worked, including after-hours remote monitoring, troubleshooting, and callouts, must be accurately recorded and compensated according to applicable law. Standby-time and callout policies require People Operations review.
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
Work in test cells with noise, heat, vibration, exhaust, fuel, and industrial fluid exposure; use required PPE and hearing protection. Lift and handle engine components within approved safe-lifting limits; specified lifting requirement: up to 50 lbs. Use hoists, engine stands, or team lifting for heavier loads. Stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in restricted spaces for extended periods as needed. Work in proximity to rotating machinery, high-pressure systems, flammable fuels, and hot surfaces. Essential functions may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
Safety and Compliance
Follow approved lockout/tagout and hazardous-energy control practices, fire prevention and emergency shutdown protocols, environmental procedures, and required hazard reporting. Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents; stop and escalate work when required by safety procedures.
