Top 3 responsibilities

  1. Perform NDT inspections and evaluations for material/part acceptance or rejection per written instructions; record results

  2. Maintain calibration status of inspection/measurement equipment and ensure procedures are approved/valid

  3. Assist production with setup for receipt inspections; train other personnel as required

Must-have skills

  • NAS 410 Level 2 certification (FPI and/or MPI), current

  • Ability to read blueprints/drawings and understand English (written/verbal)

  • Strong attention to safety, hand/eye coordination, and precise instruction adherence

  • Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced team, and occasionally work overtime

  • Computer skills (MS Office) and basic communication skills

  • 2+ years inspection-related experience

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of the Certified Non-Destruct Test Technician Level 2 is to test and inspect parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including radiography, ultrasound, penetrant, eddy current, laser shearography and magnetic particle.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adherence to safety procedures/guidelines at all times.
  • Maintain safety precautions at all times.
  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform specific inspections and specific evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and to record results.
  • Perform NDT Examinations in conjunction with receipt and in-process inspections on material purchased for use in fabrication.
  • Familiar with the tools and equipment and shall have demonstrated proficiency in their use.
  • Capable of determining the calibration status of inspection and measuring equipment is in proper condition for use, and that inspection, examination and test procedures are approved.
  • Capable of assisting production in the set-up of material and/or components for receipt inspection, as required.
  • Train other individuals as required by management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ABILITIES

  • Must demonstrate the ability to read the equivalent of the size and letters of the Jaeger I chart at a minimum distance of 12 inches and distinguish and differentiate the contrasts between colors illustrated on an Ishihara Test Chart.
  • Inspection personnel shall be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • May work alone with minimal supervision or with other personnel.
  • Inspection personnel shall possess fundamental written and verbal communication skills.
  • Inspection personnel shall be fluent (written and verbal) in the English language.
  • Computer skills, especially familiarity with MS Office applications, are necessary.
  • Comfortable working in fast paced team environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Required: High School diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of inspection related experience.

Preferred: 2 years of inspection related experience.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Must be qualified to be certified as a Level 2 to NAS 410 in one or more of the following NDT Methods that will be utilized

    • Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI).
    • Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI).
    • Certifications MUST be current.
    • Ability to communicate, read, and understand English.
    • Ability to read blue prints/drawings
    • Ability to follow precise instructions.
    • Ability to work around hazardous chemicals.
    • Must have excellent hand/eye coordination.
    • Ability to work well with others as part of a team.
    • Able to multi-task and open to working overtime.
