Role & seniority: Senior Test Engineer / Tester (5+ years in testing), IRS-focused contract role
Stack/tools: IBM Rational tools; Jira; experience with IRS data environments; familiarity with agile/automation approaches
Execute Final Integration Testing (FIT) across multiple IRS platforms and environments
Validate data interfaces, mappings, and end-to-end data flows between IRS systems
Track defects, provide daily testing status and metrics, and coordinate with integration and legacy-system teams (CADE, IDRS, MeF, IMF, BMF)
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred)
Minimum 5 years of testing experience
Experience with integration testing, data interface validation, traceability, and defect tracking
Ability to coordinate across multiple teams and environments; strong documentation skills
Experience with IRS data environments and related systems (CADE, IDRS, MeF, IMF, BMF)
Proficiency with IBM Rational tools and broader test automation concepts
Familiarity with modern testing approaches (agile, continuous testing)

Project: The IRS requires contractor support to perform a variety of testing services, including Systems Acceptability Testing (SAT), Integration Testing, Performance Testing, and related support services like Test Automation and Test Data Management. These services ensure IRS applications and systems function as intended, comply with business requirements, and are free of defects before production implementation. The goal is to enhance the taxpayer experience by providing high-quality, accurate service. The EST organization within IRS IT supports the modernization of tax processing systems, managing the software life cycle from requirements through to operations. The organization is responsible for executing applicable tests, tracking defects, and communicating results to stakeholders. The IRS is evolving its testing methodologies to incorporate agile practices and extensive automation, supporting a modern, iterative approach to application delivery.
