Position Overview Inabia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Test Engineer to support advanced testing across 5G/LTE, WiFi, and broadband/IP networking environments for a telecommunications client in Munich. This position combines wireless test engineering with enterprise and broadband networking skills, requiring hands-on experience validating radio, IP networking, and CPE/gateway performance in both lab and field conditions. Candidates with strong LTE/5G RAN or drive-testing backgrounds who can learn broadband/IP quickly are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities Wireless (LTE/5G/WiFi) Testing Perform end-to-end testing for LTE, LTE-A, 5G NSA/SA, and WiFi 5/6/6E. Validate attach/registration, CA, EN-DC, VoLTE/VoWiFi, VoNR, handovers, fallback, and mobility scenarios. Conduct throughput, latency, jitter, and packet-loss testing using standardized benchmarking methods. Analyze RAN KPIs and troubleshoot coverage, mobility, capacity, and interference issues. Broadband & CPE/Gateway Validation Test residential and enterprise broadband devices including routers, gateways, mesh WiFi systems, CPEs, modems, and home networking equipment. Execute performance, reliability, and stability tests on broadband/WAN connectivity (fiber, DSL, wireless broadband, Ethernet backhaul). Validate LAN/WAN configuration workflows, device onboarding, and end-to-end connectivity. IP Networking, Routing & VPN Testing Configure and test IPv4/IPv6 addressing, subnetting, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, port forwarding, and firewall rules. Validate VPN tunnel setup and performance (IPsec, SSL, WireGuard, OpenVPN). Troubleshoot routing, DNS resolution issues, gateway conflicts, and Layer 2/Layer 3 connectivity. Use diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, traceroute, iPerf, and system logs for L2–L7 debugging. Testbed Setup & Environment Ownership Build and maintain lab environments combining 5G/LTE devices, broadband routers, switches, servers, VPN endpoints, and test automation tools. Ensure test repeatability through proper documentation, version control, and environmental consistency. Integrate new firmware, OS builds, APNs, SIM profiles, and network parameters for testing cycles. Tools & Log Analysis Use tools such as TEMS, X-Cal, Actix, QXDM/QCAT, Wireshark, tcpdump, iPerf, spectrum analyzers, and vendor-specific utilities. Perform advanced log analysis of RRC, NAS, SIP, RTP/RTCP, and system logs to identify root causes across wireless & IP layers. Validate compliance with KPI requirements, feature acceptance criteria, and field performance goals. Reporting & Collaboration Develop clear test plans, defect reports, KPI dashboards, and RCA summaries. Collaborate with RAN engineering teams, broadband development teams, device OEMs, and network operators. Provide input for feature validation, firmware improvements, and field issue reproduction. Required Qualifications Experience in LTE/5G and/or WiFi network testing, broadband CPE testing, or IP networking validation. Strong understanding of IP networking principles (subnetting, routing, VLANs, NAT, firewall rules, DHCP, DNS). Hands-on experience with test tools (e.g., Wireshark, iPerf, tcpdump, TEMS, X-Cal, Actix, QXDM). Able to build, configure, and troubleshoot complex testbeds across wireless and IP domains. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across RF, IP, and application layers. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with German or EU mobile operators (Telekom, Vodafone, O2, 1&1) or broadband ISPs. Experience testing home networking devices, broadband gateways, WiFi APs, or mesh systems. Familiarity with enterprise-grade networking (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Fortinet, Ubiquiti). Knowledge of VoLTE/IMS/SIP analysis or VoWiFi/VoNR testing. Python or automation scripting experience.
