Role & seniority: Engineer in Training (EIT) – entry-level engineering role reporting to the SCADA Operations Support Engineer; path toward becoming a SCADA Operations Support Engineer.
Stack/tools: Electrical engineering fundamentals; SCADA; PLC design/operations; data collection and analysis; project documentation and drawings/specifications.
Assist in planning, design, and execution of engineering projects.
Collect/analyze data; support design development and documentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams; participate in QA, compliance, and safety practices.
Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; understanding of electrical/SCADA/PLC design or operations (water experience preferred).
Strong organization, communication, numeracy, and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and in a team; capable of office and field work; customer-service mindset.
Knowledge of water and wastewater operations.
Experience with regulatory compliance and industry standards.

Based in Queenstown and reporting to the Operations Technology Team Lead, the role of an Engineer in Training (EIT) is an entry-level engineering position that involves working under the guidance and supervision of the SCADA Operations Support Engineer, who is responsible for the undertaking and delivery of operational SCADA services to enable Veolia Water to meet its contractual and legislative obligations, and grow the Veolia Water business.

What you'll be responsible for
Project Support - Assist in the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects. Data Collection and Analysis - Gather and analyze relevant data Design Assistance - Contribute to the development of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications. Documentation - Maintain accurate project documentation. Ensure that documentation complies with industry standards and regulations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, technicians, and professionals, to achieve project objectives and milestones. Quality Assurance - Participate in quality control processes Compliance - Adhere to safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and other relevant compliance standards in engineering activities. Problem Solving - Engage in creative problem-solving to address engineering challenges and contribute to effective solutions within the context of assigned projects. Professional Development - Actively pursue opportunities for professional development, including obtaining required training and certifications. What you'll need to be successful
Qualification
Tertiary level qualification in Electrical Engineering or associated discipline, and demonstrable understanding of electrical, SCADA and PLC design and / or operations, preferably in a water based environment
Other Relevant Skills Or Information
Ability to organise resources, establish priorities and meet deadlines through balancing commitments and priorities. Strong literacy, numeracy, computing, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and contractors. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with an aptitude for both office and field work. Motivation and enthusiasm, a keen eye for detail and a desire for excellent customer service. Knowledge of water and wastewater operations will be an advantage
