Role & seniority: AOV Senior Tester (contract, short-term)
Stack/tools: Air-Operated Valves (AOVs); diagnostic/testing equipment; gauges, alignment tools; basic hand tools; electrical instruments; PPE; ability to read blueprints/schematics
Perform functional and post-maintenance diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and repair of AOVs; ensure seating force, stroke length, and position control meet specs
Conduct leak testing, valve adjustments, and alignment checks; support field troubleshooting and continuous improvement plans
Document work orders and daily field activities; uphold safety, quality, radiological, and nuclear program norms
Five years of hands-on diagnostic testing and AOV/actuator valve maintenance
Mechanical and electrical experience; ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical docs
U.S. Navy nuclear background or equivalent reactor maintenance/operations training
High school diploma or equivalent; proficiency with tools and safety standards ( OSHA/client requirements)
EPRI qualifications; prior satisfactory performance ratings from clients/contractors
Ability to pass pre-employment screenings and assessments; experience with confined spaces, high-temp areas, and hazardous environments
Location & work type: 100% travel; contract, short-term (4–6 weeks), 40–72 hours per week; may receive multiple assignments

Report to the On-Site Manager. Perform functional and post-maintenance diagnostic testing, corrective and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Air-Operated Valves (AOVs). Ensure AOV performance meets prescribed design and vendor specifications, including seating force, stroke length, and position control. Perform leak testing, valve adjustments, and alignment checks using appropriate gauges and tools. Support field troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and continuous improvement plans. Complete work orders with accurate documentation of tasks and daily field activity logs. Ensure safety of self and team and prevent damage to plant equipment. Follow Quality standards and procedural guidelines set by the customer. Comply with work hour requirements and observe Quality, Radiological, Human Performance, and other nuclear program norms. Use appropriate PPE, including respirators, fall protection, safety glasses, and hard hats. Follow lockout/tag out requirements. Perform tasks in confined spaces, high-temperature areas, and elevated heights. Physical demands include tasks such as climbing, lifting (up to 100 lbs.), prolonged standing, bending, visual acuity, balance, manual dexterity, and hearing. Maintain focus for extended periods and read/write complex documents in English. Willingness to work overtime, including shifts, weekends, and holidays.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Vocational, technical training or EPRI qualifications. Five (5) years of hands-on experience in diagnostic testing and AOV/actuator valve maintenance. Mechanical and electrical experience; ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
U. S. Navy nuclear background or equivalent training in reactor maintenance or operations.
