Role & seniority: Hardware Engineer (hybrid role) reporting to Engineering Manager; part of Waymo’s Hardware Engineering group.
Stack/tools: HW/SW test stations for PCBA and module testing; PCBA bring-up; lab skills; Python software development; familiarity with Linux networking a plus.
Develop and maintain hardware/software test stations for PCBA and module level testing.
Provide technical leadership to manufacturing partners for bring-up, troubleshooting, and maintenance of production testers.
Conduct PCBA and photonic module failure analysis; develop troubleshooting and rework procedures; document tester requirements and manage tester vendors.
BS or MS in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Robotics or related field.
Strong experience with digital interfaces; hands-on EE lab skills (PCBA bring-up, testing, troubleshooting).
Python software development; good English communication.
Linux networking/network infrastructure knowledge.
Experience managing contract manufacturers (especially in Asia) and ability to travel up to 25% (domestic/international).
Additional Python development experience; digital/analog circuit design/analysis.

You Have
BS, or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics or relevant disciplines Strong experience in digital interfaces Strong hands-on EE lab skills, including PCBA bringing-up, testing and troubleshooting Experience in Python software development Good communication skills in English
We Prefer

The expected base salary range for this full-time position is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
