Must-have skills

B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience

Several years of electrical system design experience

If so, this could be the opportunity for you as we are now looking for an Automation Engineer to join our growing team in our newly established office in Örnsköldsvik – a site that brings together R&D, Design and After Sales under one roof.
YOU WILL
In this role, you work in a site consisting of 50–55 colleagues across design, R&D and support, all dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions. As an Automation Engineer at MacGregor, you will take an active role in developing scalable and reusable electrical system modules for a wide range of crane applications. You will be responsible for performing hardware and system design using 3D CAD software, storing and maintaining drawings and component data, and ensuring each solution meets safety, technical, and classification requirements.
Furthermore, you’ll collaborate closely with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments such as Production, Purchasing, R&D and After Sales – contributing across the full product lifecycle. You will also participate in FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities, and support continuous improvement by engaging in R&D projects and troubleshooting when needed. Main responsibilities include
Design electrical systems according to applicable rules and regulations Perform electrical hardware design using 3D CAD Develop and maintain modular electrical systems for cranes Store and manage drawings and data sheets in PLM and revision systems Create BOMs and material lists for purchasing Manage FAT, SAT and test protocols for validation Support quality inspections in collaboration with the Quality team Participate in R&D initiatives and handle support cases from After Sales Join commissioning and troubleshooting in the field when required
