Role & seniority: Software Quality Engineer (senior-level) focused on software processes, quality, and metrics within a defense/space program.
Stack/tools: C/C++/Java coding; configuration management tools (Git, ClearQuest, ClearCase, DOORS); Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence); test planning and nonconformance processes; metric reporting and CAPA tools.
Evaluate software processes/products for conformity to standards and program-defined processes.
Ensure quality across the SDLC via completeness, consistency, correctness, and conformance checks; drive continuous improvement metrics.
Track nonconformances/defects; perform root cause analysis; lead corrective/preventive actions and lessons learned.
Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Java
Experience with configuration management tools (Git, ClearQuest, ClearCase, DOORS)
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum software development
Experience with test planning and addressing nonconformances (RCA, CAPA)
Ability to establish quality metrics and drive process improvements
Some exposure to government/military or subcontractor environments
Lean/Six Sigma Black/Green Belt
ASQ CSQE certification
Experience with US government customers and supplier management
Experience with Atlassian tools beyond basics

Evaluation of software processes and products and their conformity to standards, models, and software engineering program-defined processes Ensuring quality is built into program processes and products by checking for completeness, consistency, correctness, and conformance throughout the entire software development life cycle and maintenance activities to determine whether the program's objectives have been satisfied and if continuous improvement is needed Developing, monitoring, measuring, and analyzing software metrics for continuous improvement The candidate needs to be able to take on roles that sometimes fall outside of the conventional SQE job description, like directing AS9100 audit support, program metric definition and reporting, supplier surveys, evaluation of nonconformances trending, and driving lessons learned and best practices Track and manage nonconformances, software defects, trend analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action activities for the program
