Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Major Responsibility

Plan and conducts mechanical and environmental test programs on optical fiber products as required, and provide detailed test reports tp document performance in timely manner, Develop test methods, based on internal and external test documents and industry specification. Provide support to other engineers in development projects, like test failure trouble shooting. Design, build and automate optical systems for active and passive fiber optics products In collaboration with technology team, determine the performance of future fiber optical products and develop an appropriate measurement method Develop calibration test procedures and establish measurement uncertainty for test equipment/systems Plan and execute product test programs Develop tools for data analysis Document test methodologies and test results Develop and implement methodologies to optimize measurement performance Review and approve test reports Coach and certify lab technicians to test methods

Education & Experience

Bachelor of Science, Optical Engineering , or equivalent. Fluent in English both spoken and written.

Required Competency (Skills, Knowledge And Abilities)

Background in fiber optics, optics or optical engineering Programming skills Problem solving skills Written/verbal communication skills - intermediate and preferably advanced level of English language 3 to 5 years of Optical testing experience with in depth understanding of optical testing standard (such as GR326), know how to apply product reliability testing. Ability to program equipment using Labview , 1 year experience Experienced using DOE techniques, and experience with Minitab is a plus Ability to manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Ability to analyze/solve complex problems. Prioritize multiple tasks and manage to completion on time every time. Optical fiber testing knowledge and experience using laser diodes, optical switches and power meter Develop and complete reports, presentations, spreadsheets and graphics using a PC with related software, like Power Point, Word, Excel, Minitab, etc. Experienced with calibration procedures Familiar with fiber product testing standards such as GR326, familiar with the product reliability testing plan design.
