Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Optical Test Engineer to design, develop, and execute test procedures for optical components and systems. The role involves analyzing test data to ensure that products meet performance and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Create detailed test plans, procedures, and methodologies for optical systems and components. Conduct comprehensive optical tests and diagnostics using specialized equipment like interferometers, power meters, and spectrophotometers. Analyze test data, interpret performance results, generate technical reports, and make data-driven recommendations for product optimization. Develop and maintain automated test systems, often writing code in Python or MATLAB to enhance efficiency. Identify and resolve optical-related issues in prototypes and finished products. Work closely with design, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure product reliability and facilitate integration. Prepare comprehensive documentation, including test plans, work instructions, and performance reports.
Essential Skills
Deep understanding of optics, photonics, geometrical optics, and material properties. Ability to code in languages like Python or MATLAB and use optical analysis tools (e.g., Zemax, Code V). The role requires working onsite in Northridge, CA, five days a week.
