• We are looking for a pragmatic Automated QA Engineer to join our team. The primary goal of this role is to build and maintain a reliable automated testing suite for our WordPress-based digital products. We are not looking for someone to automate "everything," but rather someone who understands what brings value to automate and has the technical skill to execute it using Playwright.
• You will be working closely with developers and product managers to ensure our WordPress sites are stable, performant, and bug-free before deployment.

What you’ll be doing

Build Automation: Design, write, and maintain end-to-end (E2E) test scripts using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript).

WordPress Testing: Focus specifically on the quirks and complexities of WordPress environments, including plugin compatibility, theme updates, and custom block validation.

Pipeline Integration: Integrate your Playwright tests into our CI/CD pipelines (e.g., github, Octopus Deploy, AWS) to ensure checks run on every pull request.

Manual Testing: Perform manual checks when automation isn’t feasible or efficient (e.g., visual layout inspections or one-off edge cases).

API Testing: Design, execute, and maintain API tests using Postman to validate backend services, integrations, and data flows supporting WordPress features.

Bug Reporting: Write clear, reproducible bug reports with steps, screenshots, and logs.

Maintenance: Regularly refactor tests to reduce flakiness. We value stable tests over a high volume of flaky ones.

The ideal candidate should

Automated Testing Experience: 3+ years of experience in automated QA, with at least 1 year specifically using Playwright.

Manual Testing Experience: 4+ years of hands-on experience in manual web testing, including test case design and execution using TestRail, cross-browser and cross-device testing with BrowserStack, API testing with Postman, and functional, regression, and exploratory testing of web applications.

Strong WordPress Knowledge: You aren’t just testing a generic web app; you understand the WP ecosystem (themes, plugins, hooks, database structure and the block editor/Gutenberg).

Coding Skills: Strong proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript. You should be comfortable writing clean, reusable code, not just recording scripts.

Version Control: Solid understanding of Git (branching, pull requests, resolving conflicts).

Objectivity: You know that 100% automation is a myth. You can prioritize critical paths (checkout flows, login, lead forms) over cosmetic details. "Nice to Haves" (Not Dealbreakers) Experience with PHP (to understand the WordPress backend better). Experience with visual regression testing tools (e.g., Percy, BackstopJS, Playwright Visual Comparisons ). Familiarity with containerization (Docker) for setting up local test environments.
