Data Center Automation Engineer (ServiceNow / Ansible / SharePoint) Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Data Center Automation Engineer to design, build, and maintain automation across enterprise data center environments. This role focuses on ServiceNow workflow orchestration, Ansible-based infrastructure automation, and SharePoint/Power Platform automation for documentation, approvals, and knowledge management.
The ideal candidate has strong infrastructure fundamentals (Linux, Windows, networking, virtualization), an infrastructure-as-code mindset, and experience converting manual operational tasks into scalable, auditable automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities ServiceNow Automation & Integration
Design and implement Service Catalog items, workflows, approvals, notifications, and orchestration flows. Build integrations with CMDB, discovery, monitoring, and automation tools using REST APIs, webhooks, and MID servers. Maintain CMDB data accuracy and align configuration items with automation workflows.
Ansible & Infrastructure Automation
Develop and maintain Ansible roles and playbooks for OS builds, patching, configuration management, and compliance hardening. Manage Ansible Tower/AWX inventories, credentials, RBAC, workflows, and job templates. Implement secure, idempotent automation with testing, validation, and rollback mechanisms.
SharePoint & Knowledge Automation
Automate document lifecycle processes for runbooks, SOPs, approvals, and operational documentation using Power Automate. Build structured SharePoint sites, lists, and libraries aligned with audit and compliance requirements. Create self-service knowledge portals and dashboards for operations teams.
Operations & Reliability
Automate routine data center operations such as provisioning, patching, and standard changes. Improve observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting for automated workflows. Collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams (network, storage, virtualization, security) to deliver automation initiatives.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in infrastructure, operations, or automation within enterprise environments. Hands-on experience with ServiceNow (Workflows/Flow Designer, Service Catalog, CMDB, REST integrations). Strong experience with Ansible, including roles, playbooks, Tower/AWX, and Ansible Vault. Experience with SharePoint Online and Power Automate for workflow and documentation automation. Scripting experience with Python and/or PowerShell.
Solid infrastructure fundamentals: Linux, Windows, Active Directory, networking basics (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP), virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V). Experience with Git version control and structured change management processes.
Preferred Qualifications
ServiceNow or Red Hat Ansible certifications. Experience with Terraform, CI/CD tools, or infrastructure provisioning frameworks. Exposure to monitoring/logging tools and enterprise backup platforms. Familiarity with security hardening, compliance standards, and audit support. ITIL or similar process framework experience.
