What To Expect We are seeking a highly skilled Vehicle Fleet Test Engineer to join our Vehicle Hardware Validation Team. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams across various vehicle programs to ensure that our vehicles meet the highest performance and reliability standards. You will be responsible for deploying newly developed vehicles in real-world scenarios, identifying product failures, and driving corrective actions to guarantee the long-term success of Tesla vehicles.
What You'll Do
Work in close collaboration with reliability and engineering program teams on determining the scope of in-territory vehicle validation Conduct vehicle retrofits, shakedowns and instrumentation, as well as vehicle preparation in close collaboration with vehicle technicians Setup vehicle can recording as well as data generated from additional sensors Analyze and process test data and check for data integrity Work in close collaboration with in-house or third-party operators to execute the test in different test locations Conduct vehicle milestone inspections including drive evaluations (handling performance, ride comfort etc.) and investigate test failures Support firmware upgrades/troubleshooting and diagnostics for test vehicles Work in close collaboration with reliability and design teams to triage countermeasures and design changes Write and publish detailed test reports Work in close collaboration with other vehicle test engineers to develop proving ground and lab test procedures for best field correlation
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent experience 2+ years of experience with automotive systems or competitive projects (e.g., Formula SAE) Strong fundamentals in vehicle architecture and hands-on project experience (school, industrial, or personal) Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple teams simultaneously Experience with technical report writing and data processing Experience with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) Experience with data acquisition software (e.g., HBM Somat eDAQ, Dewesoft) is a plus Experience with CAN communication and/or programming is a plus
