Summary
Job Description
You'll manually test and help improve the audio experience in Ford vehicles, making sure music, calls, alerts, and other sounds work perfectly from the car's apps all the way to the speakers.
The team will train you on Ford's audio systems, and you'll use basic scripting (Bash or Python) to automate tests where possible and save time.
You'll work closely with developers, review and enhance existing test plans, and help validate new features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on real vehicle hardware.
The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of hands-on audio testing experience with devices (not just apps), preferably in automotive or consumer electronics, and some exposure to Android-based systems.
The role is onsite in Palo Alto 4 days a week, and is open because the team currently has no dedicated QA engineers.

Skills And Requirements
3+ years' experience in testing and validating audio in automotive, mobile, or consumer electronics.
Hands-on with Android audio systems (Audio HAL, AudioFlinger) and Linux audio (ALSA).
Comfortable testing in multi-OS or virtualized environments (guest/host setups).
Experience validating audio for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Skilled with audio analysis tools (like Audio Precision, Adobe Audition) and defect tracking (Jira). Experience with automotive audio features (chimes, AVAS, V2X alerts).
Knowledge of Bluetooth audio profiles (HFP, A2DP) and hands-free calling standards.
Able to write Python or Shell scripts for automating tests and parsing logs.
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, ideally with a focus on Signal Processing.
