Welding QA/QC Lead – LNG Onshore Project Remote Site | Rotational Assignment We are seeking an experienced Welding QA/QC Lead to join a major LNG onshore development of global significance. This is a senior site-based role within the Quality organisation, acting as the focal point for all welding-related QA/QC activities across EPC construction works. The project is a large-scale, multi-billion-dollar LNG development, involving multiple process facilities, utilities, storage, marine infrastructure, and extensive early works. Site workforce is expected to peak at approximately 15,000 personnel. Role Overview Reporting to the QA/QC Manager, the Welding QA/QC Lead will provide technical leadership, oversight, and assurance for all welding, inspection, and NDT activities. The role requires strong safety leadership, deep technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex contractor and subcontractor interfaces in a challenging, remote environment. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary QA/QC authority for welding, ensuring full compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Champion HSE leadership, promoting a strong safety culture across all welding and fabrication activities. Oversee and evaluate contractor and subcontractor welding performance, identifying risks, trends, and nonconformities, and driving corrective actions. Ensure compliance with applicable international welding codes and standards (e.g. ASME, AWS). Review, approve, and control welding documentation including WPS, PQR, WQR, ITPs, quality plans, and NDT procedures. Supervise and verify welder qualifications, inspector competency, and NDT personnel certification. Coordinate closely with construction, piping, mechanical, and NDT teams to ensure consistent application of QA/QC requirements. Lead the management and closure of NCRs, technical queries, and welding-related deviations. Oversee traceability of welding consumables, materials, and weld joints. Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly welding QA/QC reports, including weld status, repair rates, and NDT results. Advise project and area management on welding quality risks, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives. Advanced post-graduate or professional specialization in Welding, QA/QC, Inspection, or Metallurgy is required. Minimum 15 years’ experience in welding QA/QC within the oil & gas industry. At least 8 years in a supervisory or lead role, managing welding QA/QC teams on major oil & gas or LNG projects. Strong understanding of welding operations, project execution, scheduling, and quality risk management on large-scale developments. Proven HSE leadership in high-risk welding and construction environments. Excellent written and spoken English; Portuguese or French is an advantage. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent senior-level welding certification is mandatory.
