Testing Specialist (QA) Multi-Year Contract Hybrid - Baltimore, MD
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Testing Specialist (QA) to support validation and testing activities for complex, public-facing health exchange systems. This role will focus on translating requirements into test scenarios and test cases, executing integrated User Acceptance Testing (UAT), documenting results and defects, and partnering with technical and business teams to ensure solutions conform to design and functional expectations. The position is hybrid in Baltimore, MD and is a multi-year contract.
Key Responsibilities Perform software validation and testing across multiple test types, including regression testing, integration testing, interface testing, and downstream functional testing. Translate verbal and written requirements and functional specifications into effective test cases and test scenarios for integrated, scenario-based UAT of complex systems. Create and maintain requirements-to-test traceability (mapping requirements to test scenarios/cases). Design, prepare, and manage test data to support test execution. Execute test cases, document test results, and evaluate outcomes for conformance with design. Identify, document, and track defects; collaborate with developers and stakeholders through resolution and re-test cycles. Create test plans, test schedules/calendars, and coordinate testing tasks to establish timelines and ensure coverage. Prepare required test documentation (e.g., test plans, test cases, evidence, defect reports, execution summaries). Conduct QA activities such as peer reviews of test cases, test plans, and execution results. Support and participate in UAT activities, including coordination with business users and cross-functional teams. Perform API services testing using ReadyAPI (or similar tool). Apply performance testing techniques, including performance modeling, baseline establishment, monitoring, and profiling. Use performance tools such as JMeter, Gatling, BlazeMeter, or similar to simulate enterprise-scale usage/load. Required Skills & Experience (Minimum Qualifications) A minimum of four (4) years of experience in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of complex public-facing systems. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in testing web applications. Experience in utilizing defect-tracking or defect management tools such as JIRA. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Strong testing and analytical skills with keen attention to detail. Proven experience working effectively and collaboratively with stakeholders from multiple functional teams in an organization. Preferred Qualifications A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Java/Web application tester. A minimum of four (4) years of experience testing websites across multiple browsers, web services, back-end processing, and data validation. Experience in mobile testing, system testing, data migration testing, data integrity testing, and data transformation-related testing. Experience with backend database testing on SQL, PostgreSQL, or any other enterprise database systems, and experience in writing complex SQL queries. Experience in performing testing and validation of complex State-Based Health Insurance Marketplace or other healthcare systems. Experience with industry-standard Quality Assurance best practices for Agile and Iterative SDLCs, testing methodologies, version control systems, implementation, and deployment activities.
