Full Description

Location: Vancouver (On-site)

About Us Punt is a fast-growing technology company and the creator of a market-leading online social gaming platform. Our mission is to become the world’s largest social gaming company by delivering cutting-edge technology, seamless performance, and unmatched user experiences.

We are seeking a Lead Quality Assurance Engineer who will own, design, and build our entire QA function from the ground up. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, loves building systems and frameworks, and wants to shape the quality culture of a scaling engineering organization.

What You'll Do

As the Lead QA Engineer, you will be both a builder and an operator, responsible for establishing testing standards, designing end-to-end QA processes, and conducting hands-on testing across complex, high-traffic gaming systems.

Foundational Ownership Architect, implement, and scale the company’s entire QA strategy, processes, and tooling from scratch. Establish quality standards, testing best practices, and documentation for the engineering organization. Select automation frameworks, testing tools, and performance testing platforms appropriate for a high-growth environment.

Hands-On QA Execution

Manage the entire test case lifecycle: creation, maintenance, execution, and optimization based on technical and functional requirements. Perform deep manual regression testing to validate new and existing features. Develop and maintain automated end-to-end test suites across web, backend, and distributed systems. Design and execute performance and load tests to validate stability under high-traffic conditions. Conduct API testing using tools such as Postman, Cypress, or similar. Troubleshoot issues, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate closely with engineering teams on resolutions.

Cross-Functional Leadership Work directly with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to define test strategies and acceptance criteria. Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and ensure quality gates are consistently met. Mentor future QA hires and help scale the QA team as the organization grows. Proactively identify quality risks and build processes that improve reliability, efficiency, and developer velocity.

What You Bring

5+ years of software QA experience, with at least 1–2 years in a senior or lead capacity. Proven experience building or significantly shaping QA processes in a high-growth environment. Strong mastery of manual QA methodologies, test planning, regression testing, and defect management. Proficiency with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar. Experience implementing load and performance testing using tools like k6, Artillery, or Loader.io. Familiarity with API testing via Postman, Cypress, or equivalent tools. Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated testing into deployment workflows. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. A hands-on builder mentality—the ability to design, execute, and iterate rapidly.

Bonus Points Experience testing high-traffic, scalable applications. Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure environments. Experience with security and performance testing. Background in Agile, DevOps, or continuous delivery environments.

Why Join Us

You’ll step into a role with full ownership of quality across a platform that processes millions of daily plays. You will define standards that shape the future of our engineering organization and directly influence the user experience for players across North America and soon, the world.
