Role & seniority: Senior/Staff CPU Silicon Emulation Engineer within AMD’s global CPU Emulation team (8–15+ years preferred; experienced individual contributor who collaborates cross-functionally).
Stack/tools: Emulation environments (pre-silicon prototyping), RTL/ debug in Verilog/SystemVerilog, C, Python, TCL; JTAG and kernel debuggers; FPGA tooling (Cadence/Xilinx/Intel) and timing closure; CPU/SoC architectures; pre-silicon bring-up; basic power/performance concepts; MySQL/DB/API knowledge a plus.
Debug and validate emulation and silicon environments, including RTL issues, and provide feedback to design teams for next-gen CPUs (pre-silicon/emulation).
Perform low-level software/hardware debugging, develop and use debug tools, scripting, and validation methods; contribute to emulation infrastructure and bring-up.
Support micro-architecture validation and performance analysis, verify digital circuits, and assist in improving model performance and processor architecture understanding.
Experience in emulation/silicon environments and pre-silicon prototyping
Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog; strong C/C++ skills; scripting in Python/TCL
FPGA experience (Cadence/Xilinx/Intel) and timing closure techniques
Deep knowledge of CPU/SoC architectures; ability to debug low-level issues (JTAG, kernel debuggers)
Familiarity with digital design, RTL, and processor architecture concepts; pre-silicon

Scripting: Proficient in Python, TCL
FPGA Expertise: Cadence/Xilinx/Intel FPGAs, Tools, and timing closure techniques
Experience: 8-15 years' experience in processor/ASIC design verification. Experience in micro-architecture testing for modern high-performance processors. MYSQL (or any Database) and API knowledge knowledge will be a plus. Experience in application performance analysis Programming/Scripting Skills C, C++, Perl, Python. Solid background and understanding of Digital Design, RTL design , improving model performance and Processor Architecture Strong troubleshooting, analytical and debug skills. Prior experience in emulation infrastructure and debug of Processor subsystems is a plus. Excellent knowledge of computer architecture with relevant research and project work or industry experience Strong programming skills (C/C++ and assembly) Basic knowledge of Verilog
