Position Description
Join a team of dedicated professionals who protect taxpayer dollars and vendors through rigorous verification and fraud detection processes. This is an opportunity to supervise a collaborative and supportive team that has a unique responsibility within the Auditor's Office and Harris County.
About The Role
As the Vendor Verification Supervisor, reporting to the Assistant Director of Financial Controls, you will supervise the team that carries out Harris County's supplier verification and fraud detection processes. By properly assigning and monitoring workflows, this position ensures timely and accurate vendor verification, banking transactions, and payment approvals while safeguarding county resources against fraud. This role demands strong leadership, attention to detail, natural curiosity or inquisitiveness, and an ability to maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities
Assign and monitor daily workflow for vendor verifications, ACH payments, and wire transfers Ensure compliance with internal controls and timelines for approvals Maintain and update verification logs and research documentation Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues promptly Collaborate with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Treasury, and other departments Train and cross-train staff to maintain knowledge continuity Prepare fraud reports and communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders Manage special projects (e.g., guardianship letters, 1099 filing) Foster a positive, collaborative team environment

Work Schedule | Monday - Friday | 40 hrs. per week | Exempt Physical requirements include sitting for extended periods of time, lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. Occasional travel throughout Harris County will be required. May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek or on weekends when special projects or deadlines need to be met.
