Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to build and oversee a cross-functional quality assurance team responsible for testing backend services and mobile applications. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, hands-on experience in automated testing, and a deep understanding of quality processes for backend Java services and iOS/Android applications.
Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of automation QA engineers to ensure high-quality delivery across multiple backend and mobile projects. Mentor and upskills manual testers to automation skills using a structured framework and automations tools Define and implement QA strategies, test plans, and testing processes to support continuous delivery of backend Java APIs and mobile apps. Oversee end-to-end testing activities, including functional, regression, integration, performance, and security testing. Collaborate closely with Product, Development (Java, iOS, Android), DevOps, and Architecture teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle. Drive automation initiatives and expand automated test coverage for backend services, mobile applications, and CI/CD pipelines. Review test case design, test scenarios, automation scripts, and test documentation for completeness and quality. Ensure defects are clearly reported, tracked, and resolved, while maintaining high visibility on product quality metrics. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives within QA processes and tools. Maintain strong quality governance aligned with organizational standards, compliance requirements, and best practices.
Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Physics or related field. 8+ years of QA experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or team lead role. Hands-on experience with automated testing for backend Java services (REST APIs, microservices) and mobile apps (iOS & Android). Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, test design techniques, and defect management processes. Solid experience with automation frameworks/tools such as Selenium, Appium, REST Assured, Postman, or similar. Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions). Experience with Agile/Scrum and working closely with cross-functional engineering teams. Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have ISTQB certification or equivalent. Experience in fintech, digital banking, or other regulated industries. Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling). Experience with cloud environments (AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
