Role & seniority: Quality Assurance Community Leader ( senior / leadership role, moving beyond traditional management to lead a QA Community of Practice )

Define and own overall QA strategy, standards, gates, and release criteria; drive risk-based testing and post-incident reviews
Lead a QA Community of Practice, organize forums/workshops, promote automation strategies, and mentor QA engineers across streams
Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and DevOps to embed quality early, support metric-driven insights, and participate in releases/quality discussions
Proven SaaS QA experience; ability to define QA strategies and standards
ISTQB Advanced/Expert or equivalent QA/security certifications
Full SDLC understanding, agile experience, hands-on QA with tools, and leadership/collaboration capabilities
Ability to balance hands-on quality work with people/process leadership
Strong communication in English; technical fluency across testing, databases, development concepts
Knowledge of AI tooling for QA, aviation domain interest, ISO27001-related activities
Experience building QA communities, and recruiting/guiding QA talent

Your Role and Impact The Quality Assurance Community Leader is the primary authority and visionary for quality engineering at AirportLabs. This role transitions from traditional management to leading a Community of Practice, ensuring high-quality standards, automation-first & AI usage mindsets, and best practices alignment for every product stream. You will empower QA engineers across the organization to excel, ensuring our aviation solutions maintain >99.999% availability through collective expertise and standardized excellence.
Responsibilities Quality Strategy, Governance Defines and owns the overall QA strategy, ensuring it aligns with AirportLabs’ mission-critical aviation requirements. Establishes universal quality gates, release criteria, and testing standards that all product streams adopt. Tracks and analyzes quality metrics, translating data into actionable insights for leadership and stakeholders. Contributes to ISO27001 initiatives and ensures the "Five Nines" (99.999%) availability goal is supported by rigorous QA processes. Work closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps to embed quality early in the SDLC Support risk-based testing and defect prevention practices Participate in release decisions and post-incident reviews Represent quality in internal and customer-facing discussions when needed
Community Leadership & Mentoring
Fosters a Community of Practice: Organizes regular forums, workshops, and QA Syncs to encourage knowledge sharing and prevent silos between product teams.
Automation-First Mindset: Leads the transition and maintenance of automation strategies, evaluating new tools and frameworks for company-wide adoption.
Career Guidance: Defines QA roles and career paths, providing mentorship and guidance to QA engineers across different streams.
Recruitment & Growth: Participates in the hiring process to ensure technical and cultural fit for all quality-related roles.
What we are looking for Ability to drive quality standards across teams Proactive in identifying systemic quality bottlenecks Strong experience in SaaS Quality Assurance, including defining QA strategies and standards. ISTQB (Advanced/Expert level) or other relevant QA/Security certifications. Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle (web-based applications) Experience working in agile environments Practical experience with QA processes, tools, and methodologies Ability to balance hands-on quality work with people and process leadership Knowledge about development, best practices, testing, SDLC, databases, etc. Proven leadership and collaboration skills Curiosity for complex systems and interest in the aviation domain Demonstrable experience in promoting best practices and building a culture of quality beyond just "testing."
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Experience working with modern web applications (frontend, backend, databases) Good understanding of QA tooling, test management, and development & automation concepts, AI tools Fluent in English and Romanian, written and spoken
