About Origin
Origin (previously 10xConstruction) is building general-purpose autonomous robots for US construction to tackle rising costs, safety risks, and labour shortages. Our modular, multi-trade platform combines purpose-built hardware with real-time site intelligence to navigate complex environments and execute tasks with precision. Trained in high-fidelity simulation and already deployed on live sites, our robots deliver 5x faster execution, 250%+ margin expansion, and significant cost savings. Join India's most talent-dense robotics team consisting of individuals from IITs, Stanford, UCLA, etc.
About The Role
As an Engineer - Robotics Deployment and QA, you are the hands-on operator pushing our robots to their limits every day. You will spend your time running the robot through rigorous test matrices, both in the lab and on real construction sites. You are the first to spot when a software update degrades performance or a mechanical part begins to wear. You will translate these physical observations into highly detailed, data-backed bug reports that drive the engineering team's sprint priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Execute daily testing protocols on the physical robots and within simulation environments Operate the robot as the customer would, identifying UI/UX friction points, safety concerns, and operational inefficiencies Assist in the setup of physical test jigs, calibration targets, and environmental obstacles
Maintain the bug tracking system (e.g., Jira). Write crystal-clear, actionable bug reports that include video evidence, system logs, and specific physical conditions Work directly with embedded, software, and mechanical engineers to test their experimental fixes (A/B testing) and verify that the issue is resolved without regressions Extract, organize, and upload massive datasets (ROS bags, camera feeds) from the robot to the cloud for the perception team
Draft sections of the User Manuals and create step-by-step video tutorials for standard operating procedures (SOPs) Keep the internal QA wiki updated with the latest hardware configurations and software versions
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Science) 2-4 years of professional experience in testing, QA, or operations for hardware products Solid operational knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu) and basic shell scripting
Strong attention to detail: you must be able to spot subtle anomalies in robot behavior Excellent technical writing skills for bug reporting and documentation High physical energy and willingness to work hands-on with heavy hardware
Preferred Experiences
Previous exposure to ROS/ROS 2 data logging and playback Experience in customer support or field technician roles for hardware products
