Summary

  • The Quality Assurance Team Lead oversees the daily operations of the QA team to ensure high standards for product quality and release readiness. This role is responsible for guiding team members, supporting effective testing processes, and managing risks related to quality and releases.

Purpose

  • The Team Lead helps maintain the integrity and reliability of products by ensuring consistent quality standards and supporting the organization’s mission by maintaining integrity and delivery confidence.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises daily activities and work assignments of QA Analysts, ensuring projects are moving forward and strong communication is maintained.
  • Establishes and maintains Quality Assurance standards, including test strategy, planning and execution expectations.
  • Plans, tracks, and maintains all Quality Assurance work up to date in the designated system of record. Maintains traceability among requirements, test cases, defects, and releases.
  • Leads the implementation and scaling of automated testing; establishes a framework for test automation maturity across all applications ensuring critical certification system workflows are incorporated into automated testing.
  • Ensures automation outputs meet standards for reliability, maintainability, and actionable feedback.
  • Identify and manage risks related to product quality and release timelines.
  • Triages production issues by validating deficiencies, reproduction steps, and impacts.
  • Drives continuous improvement in Quality Assurance effectiveness, including tools and processes.
  • Collaborates with Software Development Team Leads to ensure shared clarity, proper sequencing, and readiness across overlapping initiatives and release timelines.
  • Provides execution-focused feedback to QA team members regarding quality, collaboration, and discipline; organizes, prioritizes, and oversees the execution of Quality Assurance tasks and deliverables.
  • Escalates recurring performance patterns, capability gaps, or delivery risks to the immediate manager in alignment with organizational guidelines.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in quality assurance or software testing.
  • 2+ years of experience in a quality assurance lead or senior level, or a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience creating formal test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
  • Experience implementing and scaling automated testing, including modern or AI-assisted tools.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery and production support environments.
