We are looking for a skilled and hands-on VIL Rig & Test Engineer to join the operational test team within Volvo’s Software Test Center and engine test facilities.
In this role, you will work with Vehicle-in-the-Loop (VIL) test rigs and engine test cells, supporting combustion engine development and vehicle software validation. You will be responsible for rig operation, fault tracing, NVH testing, diagnostics, and ensuring high availability of test environments.
The team operates in a highly technical and rapidly evolving environment where automation, fault tracing capability, and strong hands-on competence are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain Vehicle-in-the-Loop (VIL) test rigs Conduct NVH testing and related measurements Perform basetech testing (SWDL, diagnostics, gateway testing) Install engines and prepare test setups Execute complete vehicle testing Perform log analysis using CANoe, Wireshark, DLT Conduct electrical and mechanical fault tracing in test environments Maintain and troubleshoot engine and test equipment Contribute to automation, baseline and binary management Support continuous improvement of test methods and rig utilization Balance short-term troubleshooting with long-term development initiatives
Required Competence
2–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in automotive testing or similar environments Experience with combustion engines and/or lab/test equipment
