What To Expect The Quality Engineer’s primary objective within this role will be to support the production of high-volume Power conversion system (power – electronics) through the continual improvement of process and product quality and the systems that surround them. The successful candidate for this position must be a problem-solver at his/her core, have a strong quality and customer-focused mindset, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continual improvement (personally and professionally).
The Quality Engineer serves as the technical subject matter expert for assigned processes within the Power Conversion System line — including robotic pick-and-place, automated fastening, TIM/acrylic dispense, and end-of-line test operations (Leak/Hi-Pot Test). This role is responsible for defining, improving, and sustaining manufacturing processes that directly impact throughput, cost, and quality for Tesla’s next-generation battery pack production.
You’ll work cross-functionally with Equipment, Controls, and Process teams to ensure stable process capability, rapid issue resolution, and continuous improvement of Power Conversion System assembly operations.
What You'll Do
Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements; use of QA methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions Establish and maintain quality performance metrics Develop and implement quality standards as part of the Tesla Quality System to ensure products meet expectations of our target customers Support the development of product specifications and tolerances, design and process FMEAs and DVAs Candidate should be proficient in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Assembly (DFA). Beneficial if candidate has experience in SolidWorks/ CATIA or any other design software Proficiency in Microsoft Office GD&T; CATIA, or SolidWorks required and experience in Power Query, FANUC, PLC preferred (but not mandatory) Establish and maintain control plans and inspection standards to ensure critical features are controlled through the assembly/production processes Lead/facilitate review and disposition of discrepant materials identified for control of nonconforming product
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Electronics and/ or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience with a minimum 2+ years of industry experience Quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred) Specific training and demonstrated success in applying quality problem solving methods such as fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc. Experience with broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques May be required to support extended hours based on business and production needs Must be detail-oriented with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines Strong ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to develop innovative solutions for manufacturing challenges Proven experience with project management and providing clear technical guidance to cross-functional teams and external partners Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and leadership skills to collaborate with internal teams and vendors

$84,000 - $180,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
