Role & seniority: Mainframe AS400 Tester; mid-senior level (5+ years in software testing, AS400/Mainframe focus); permanent role in Dublin.
Stack/tools: AS/400 Mainframe (COBOL, JCL, DB2), test management and defect tracking tools, SDLC methodologies; experience with test automation frameworks or scripting is a plus.
Design, execute, and document functional and regression test cases for AS400/Mainframe systems.
Collaborate with developers, BAs, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve defects; participate in test planning and release scheduling.
Log, track, and report defects; perform integration testing between legacy and newer platforms; contribute to test automation strategies where applicable.
5+ years in software testing with a focus on AS400/Mainframe environments.

Mainframe AS400 Tester
Job Responsibilities Design, execute, and document functional and regression test cases for AS400/Mainframe systems. Log, track, and report defects using appropriate test management tools. Validate data inputs and outputs, ensuring system accuracy and performance. Perform integration testing between legacy systems and newer platforms. Contribute to test automation strategies where applicable.
Experience Required Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a software testing role, specifically focused on AS400/Mainframe environments. Proven track record in designing and executing test plans in complex legacy systems. Strong familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools. Experience working within structured testing methodologies and SDLC processes.
Desirable Skills Financial services or regulated industry experience. Understanding of COBOL, JCL, DB2 or similar mainframe technologies. Exposure to automated testing frameworks or scripting. Familiarity with Agile or hybrid Agile/Waterfall environments.
Educational Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
