Role & seniority: Quality Assurance Engineer (junior–mid level, with emphasis on data QA)

About The Role
As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will make an impact by ensuring the delivery of high‑quality data solutions on Azure and Databricks platforms. You will be a valued member of the engineering and delivery team, working closely with business partners, product owners, developers, and business analysts to validate data accuracy, functionality, and system performance.
In This Role, You Will
Participate in daily stand‑ups, Scrum ceremonies, and quarterly PI planning to support ongoing delivery. Collaborate with business and product teams to understand functional requirements and translate them into detailed test plans and test cases. Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, test scripts, and test case documentation. Perform data validation, data lineage checks, defect analysis, defect logging, and defect management using modern testing tools. Use SQL and Databricks notebooks to query and validate data within cloud environments. Walk through test scenarios and readiness with developers, engineers, and business system analysts. Provide final test sign‑off once all required validations have been completed.

What You Need To Have To Be Considered
Experience using testing tools, test case management systems, and defect management processes. Strong understanding of source‑to‑target mapping (STTM), data lineage, and data testing. Ability to write and execute SQL queries for data validation. Solid knowledge of cloud concepts, preferably within Azure. Hands‑on experience using Databricks notebooks for querying and validating cloud‑based data. Experience creating test scripts, test plans, and structured testing documentation.
These will help you stand out
Prior experience testing in big data or cloud analytics environments. Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and comfort engaging in Scrum ceremonies. Strong communication skills and confidence in presenting test results to cross‑functional teams. Ability to troubleshoot data or system issues collaboratively with engineering teams. Experience validating ETL, data pipelines, or analytics workflows.

Salary And Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $ 100,000 - $ 125,000 CAD depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
