Top 3 responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end quality for a sprint team (manual testing, regression, release gatekeeping)

  • Build QA foundations: define processes, test case management, benchmarks, release criteria

  • Design/implement automated test suites, expand coverage, integrate tests into CI/CD; mentor junior QA

Must-have skills

  • 4–6 years in software testing and QA

  • ≥2 years hands-on manual testing; ≥2 years automated testing

  • Experience with UI automation tools (Cypress/Playwright/Selenium) and API testing

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (JavaScript/TypeScript/Java/Python)

  • Familiarity with Git workflows and CI/CD; testing data-heavy dashboards

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with analytics/data-intensive applications

  • Performance, load, or security testing

  • Experience establishing QA processes/frameworks from scratch

Role Overview

As a Senior SDET, you’ll be part of our core product-engineering team, working closely with product managers, designers, and backend/frontend engineers to ensure we ship reliable, high-quality products at speed.

Each Senior SDET owns quality for a sprint team. The role is hands-on, with an initial focus on manual testing and release quality, and a strong mandate to build automation foundations, test pipelines, and scalable QA processes over time. You will also play a key role in mentoring and growing junior QA talent as the team scales.

What You’ll Do

Sprint & Product Quality Ownership

Own end-to-end quality for one sprint team Participate in story grooming, sprint planning, and release discussions Translate product requirements and workflows into detailed test cases Perform thorough manual testing across UI, workflows, APIs, and data-heavy dashboards Ensure strong regression coverage for both new and existing features Act as the quality gatekeeper before releases

Building QA from Scratch

Help define and establish QA processes, standards, and best practices across the product Decide what should be manually tested vs automated Set up structured test case management and documentation Define quality benchmarks, release criteria, and escalation processes Continuously evolve QA practices as product complexity and team size grow

Automation & Test Infrastructure

Design and build automated test suites for critical user journeys and APIs Gradually expand automation coverage across existing and legacy features Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines Improve test reliability, reduce flakiness, and optimize execution time Collaborate with engineers to improve testability of the product

Leadership & Scale

Operate as the senior-most QA for your sprint team Work closely with Product Managers and Engineering Leads Mentor and train junior QA engineers as they join Influence engineering teams to adopt a quality-first mindset

Requirements

Experience & Background

4–6 years of experience in software testing and quality engineering At least 2 years of hands-on manual testing experience At least 2 years of experience in automated testing Prior experience operating as a senior QA / SDET closely aligned with product and engineering leadership Experience working in SaaS product companies or fast-paced startup environments

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of QA fundamentals, test design, and defect lifecycle Experience with UI automation tools such as Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, or similar Experience with API testing (Postman and/or automated API tests) Working knowledge of programming or scripting languages (JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or Python) Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines Comfortable testing data-heavy dashboards, analytics, and complex workflows

Nice to Have

Experience testing analytics or data-intensive applications Exposure to performance, load, or security testing Experience setting up QA processes or frameworks from scratch Prior experience mentoring or managing junior QA engineers
