About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Test Engineer to join Qualcomm's System Test team. This role is pivotal in defining and executing the testing strategies for WiFi and Networking access points, with a focus on enhancing product quality and customer satisfaction. As a key leader within the team, you will drive improvements in testing processes, develop automation frameworks, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including systems, development, architecture, and hardware. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of reliable, production-grade software and firmware for Qualcomm’s connectivity solutions. The role offers an exciting opportunity to lead testing initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and influence product quality at a global scale.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics & Communications, or a related field, complemented by extensive experience in software engineering and testing. Candidates with a PhD in these domains and relevant industry experience are also encouraged to apply. A strong background in programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or Shell scripting is essential. Additionally, candidates should have at least 8 years of professional experience in software development or testing, with a minimum of 4 years working on embedded systems and products. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a passion for quality assurance are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Operate under the premise that all customer-reported issues are opportunities for process enhancement within the Quality Assurance framework. Analyze new features and develop comprehensive test plans, including creating new test cases to cover various scenarios. Manage testing infrastructure, develop test topologies, and prepare detailed use cases for validation and verification. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and systems teams, to support end-to-end product releases. Lead a small team of engineers in troubleshooting issues by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data from multiple sources, and recommend solutions. Mentor and train team members, sharing expertise on complex features, testing strategies, automation, and best practices in quality assurance. Conduct log analysis with team members to identify root causes of issues and formulate effective resolution strategies. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including network operators, field teams, and product management, to ensure testing plans address all feature and performance requirements. Continuously improve testing methodologies, automation frameworks, and tools to increase efficiency and coverage.
