Role & seniority: Full-Time Insurance Verifier (entry to mid level) supporting Southwest Healthcare facilities; onsite in Palmdale region.
Stack/tools: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; PC/10-key; medical terminology; knowledge of insurance benefits, government and commercial programs; credentials: CHAA preferred.
Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and pre-authorization requirements for inpatient/observation and pre-scheduled procedures.
Update systems to departmental standards; communicate insurance changes to case management and other stakeholders (via fax as needed).
Calculate patient liability and forward estimates to Financial Counselors; support PAS, PAC, and Centralized Scheduling leadership.
Must-have skills: HS diploma or equivalent; 1–2 years in patient registration or insurance verification in healthcare; proficiency with MS Office; medical terminology; ability to discuss finances with patients; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to meet productivity metrics.
Nice-to-haves: CHAA certification; experience with government and commercial insurance programs; knowledge of nurse practice act, Joint Commission, Title 22 standards.
