About The Role
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Systems Quality Engineer to join our team on a contract basis at OSI Engineering. This role is integral to ensuring the quality and performance of prototype imaging and sensing hardware through comprehensive system-level testing. The ideal candidate will possess strong Python programming skills and hands-on experience in hardware/software integration testing. You will be responsible for executing both manual and automated validation tests, analyzing results, and maintaining the test infrastructure in a lab environment. Collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams, you will help ensure that our client's prototypes meet all specified requirements and perform reliably under various conditions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge hardware systems, contribute to quality assurance processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives within a dynamic and innovative environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, test automation, and data analysis. Experience with black-box and/or white-box testing methodologies. Comfortable working in hardware test environments, including prototype devices. Understanding of system-level test validation for complex hardware/software systems. Familiarity with test automation frameworks and continuous integration (CI) tools. Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Strong documentation and reporting capabilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred qualifications include experience in imaging, camera systems, or sensing technology, prior lab-based hardware validation roles, familiarity with Objective-C or Swift, and knowledge of dashboarding tools for test reporting. Understanding of embedded environments such as Apple's internal toolchains is a plus.
Responsibilities
Execute and monitor validation tests for prototype hardware and sensing systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and performance standards. Develop, write, and debug Python scripts to automate test procedures and facilitate data analysis, improving testing efficiency. Maintain and enhance existing test cases, setups, and infrastructure based on evolving project requirements. Identify, triage, and document hardware and software issues uncovered during testing, providing detailed reports for engineering teams. Ensure comprehensive test coverage aligns with product requirements by collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams. Support continuous integration workflows by contributing to test automation pipelines and process improvements. Own and document the test setup, execution flow, and results, ensuring reproducibility and traceability. Participate in equipment maintenance, calibration, and lab readiness activities to sustain an optimal testing environment. Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams to expand test coverage, improve test procedures, and increase testing efficiency.
