Role & seniority: Senior Test Engineer – IP Networking, Embedded & Audio
Stack/tools: IP network testing; embedded systems testing; audio testing; black box and unit testing; defect tracking; Python (advantage); Linux OS (advantage)
Design, develop, maintain and execute test cases for new product releases across software, firmware and hardware
Perform black box and unit testing; assess audio quality and data integrity with specialist tools
Manage and track defects through iterative software/hardware release cycles; reproduce customer-reported issues; contribute to test process improvements
At least 2 years of hands-on commercial testing experience (testing/integration)
Solid experience in IP network testing, embedded systems testing, or audio testing
Experience in an agile environment; ability to design/execute/document detailed test cases
Defect management across full development lifecycle; strong analytical/problem-solving; clear communication
Degree/HND in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Audio Engineering or related field

A fantastic opportunity for a Senior Test Engineer to join a well-established and highly respected technology company. This organisation designs and develops complex electronic products combining software, firmware and hardware, and has built a strong reputation for engineering excellence and long-term staff retention. Their Cambridge-based team is collaborative, technically strong and focused on delivering high-quality, reliable products to a global customer base. This role will play a key part in ensuring new and existing product releases meet rigorous quality and performance standards.
Location: Cambridge, UK – minimum three days per week onsite
Salary: £43,000 – £58,000 per annum + excellent benefits including enhanced pension, healthcare, dental, etc.
Solid experience in at least one of the following: IP network testing, embedded systems testing or audio testing Experience working within an agile development environment Ability to design, execute and document detailed test cases across software, firmware and hardware Experience performing black box testing and unit testing Comfortable managing and tracking defects through the full development lifecycle Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail Confident communicator, able to work closely with development, engineering and customer-facing teams Degree or HND in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Audio Engineering or a closely related subject Python programming skills and knowledge of Linux OS are highly advantageous
