Role & seniority: Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET); about 4+ years in SDET domain; reports to Software Development Lead.
Stack/tools: Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript; REST APIs, Microservices; UI testing; testing frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, Cypress, Playwright, PyTest); CI/CD (GitLab).
Validate and enhance backend functional, performance, security, integration, and UI component tests across Java, Python, and JS/TS.
Design, develop, and maintain testing frameworks/tools for backend/frontend applications; collaborate with developers to improve testability and code quality.
Implement/maintain continuous testing within CI/CD; investigate/debug complex issues; contribute to quality practices and code reviews.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, or related field.
~4 years SDET experience focused on REST API and Web UI testing.
Proficient in Java, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript; strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, OOP, design patterns.
Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, Cypress, Playwright, PyTest); familiarity with GitLab or similar CI/CD tools.
Azure cloud experience; Docker/Kubernetes; ability to work independently and in a team; strong problem-solving and debugging; good communication; technical English; resilience under pressure.

What are we seeking?
We are seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our Software Development team, who will contribute to a project with one of our global customers, which is one of the leading wealth management groups.
This role combines strong software development expertise with a passion for quality engineering. You will work closely with Java and JavaScript/TypeScript software developers to enhance functional, performance, security unit and integration test coverage, leverage, build and enhance robust testing frameworks, and ensure the highest level of product quality.
Direct reporting to the Software Development Lead.
Location: Hybrid. Madrid city center (Sol area). 3 days a week in the office.
Job Responsibilities / Role
Validate and enhance backend functional, performance, security, integration, and UI component tests in Java, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript Design, develop, and maintain testing frameworks and tools for backend and frontend applications Closely collaborate with developers to improve testability and code quality across the stack Implement and maintain continuous testing strategies within CI/CD pipelines Investigate and debug complex issues, providing detailed analysis and solutions Contribute to quality best practices, including code reviews and quality strategy discussions
Technical Skills Required
