Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Network Automation Engineer with a strong foundation in core networking and deep hands-on expertise in the Ansible Automation Platform. This role focuses on building, integrating, and optimizing network automation solutions, with close integration into GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and scalability across the network environment.
Key Responsibilities
Network Automation & Engineering Design, build, and deploy network automation solutions using the Ansible Automation Platform. Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and modules to automate network configurations and services. Integrate Ansible-based automation workflows with GitHub CI/CD pipelines to enable streamlined and repeatable deployments. Integrate Ansible with Grafana for automation metrics and statistics dashboards, and with Django for automation reporting.
Network Infrastructure & Operations Ensure automation solutions comply with network architecture standards, security requirements, and industry best practices. Apply strong technical knowledge across network and security infrastructure technologies including Cisco, Checkpoint, Palo Alto, F5, Symantec, Zscaler, AWS, and Azure. Diagnose and resolve network issues, using automation to improve accuracy, speed, and operational consistency. Work closely with network engineering teams to identify automation use cases and technical requirements.
Continuous Improvement & Delivery Evaluate emerging automation tools and techniques to enhance network operations and delivery capabilities. Improve and optimize existing automation scripts and workflows for performance, scalability, and maintainability. Stay current with developments in network automation, CI/CD practices, and industry trends.
Collaboration & Technical Support Partner with DevOps, Security, and Application teams to ensure smooth integration and operation of automated network services. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and automation specialists. Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to support network automation initiatives.
Documentation & Compliance Develop and maintain detailed documentation covering automation scripts, workflows, and network configurations. Ensure all automation and network activities align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal governance policies.
Experience & Qualifications Minimum of 5 years’ experience in core networking, including routing, switching, and firewall technologies. Experience working with network security standards such as CIS and CCOP, as well as network performance tuning and capacity planning. Extensive hands-on experience with the Ansible Automation Platform for network automation. Proven experience with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, and Git, with direct integration of automation workflows into GitHub CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks. Experience working in Agile and Scrum environments. Proficiency using Jira for issue tracking and project management. Experience using Confluence for documentation and team collaboration.
Technical Skills Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPN, and DNS. Experience with cloud networking and hybrid cloud environments. Proficiency in Ansible playbooks, roles, and modules for network automation. Hands-on experience with GitHub CI/CD for continuous integration and deployment. Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices. Proficiency in software development and monitoring technologies including Python, Java, Django, React, Grafana, and Prometheus. Experience with network monitoring and management tools such as Grafana and Prometheus. Certifications Networking certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are highly desirable. Automation-related certifications, including Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation, are an advantage. Programming language certifications (e.g. Python, Java) are a plus.
