We’re partnering with a fast-growing tech startup in downtown Chicago that is looking to add a QA Engineer to their team. This is an onsite role for someone who wants to take real ownership of testing strategy and play a key role in improving product reliability and performance. While QA is the immediate focus, the team is also open to strong Platform Engineers with a heavy testing background — particularly those with Python-based automation experience.
About the Role
As a QA Engineer, you’ll be responsible for shaping and executing the testing strategy across the product. You’ll work closely with engineering and product stakeholders to design test plans, automate workflows, and ensure high-quality releases in a fast-moving startup environment. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys building processes, improving systems, and having direct impact.
Key Responsibilities Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into comprehensive test plans and test cases Design, execute, and automate tests to validate functionality, performance, and reliability Develop and maintain automated test scripts (Python preferred) Perform regression testing to ensure stability across releases Identify, document, and track defects using tools like Jira Help define and improve QA best practices and testing methodologies Maintain detailed documentation, test reports, and release notes
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 2–4 years of experience in software QA or testing Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience with Python for testing or automation Familiarity with bug tracking tools (Jira, TestRail, etc.) Ability to work onsite in Chicago Preferred Qualifications Experience with both manual and automated testing practices Understanding of SDLC and QA methodologies Experience working in startup or high-growth environments
