Join the team bringing advanced autonomy to the built world At Bedrock, we’re moving AI out of the lab and into the real world. Our team is composed of industry veterans who helped launch Waymo, scaled Segment to a $3.2B acquisition, and grew Uber Freight to $5B in revenue. Today, we’re deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction machinery across the country, accelerating project schedules of billion-dollar infrastructure projects and improving safety on job sites. Backed by $350M in funding, we’re working quickly to close the gap between America's surging demand for housing, data centers, manufacturing hubs, and the construction industry's growing labor shortage. This is where algorithms meet steel-toed boots. You’ll collaborate with construction veterans and world-class engineers to solve physical-world problems that simulations can’t touch. If you're ready to apply cutting-edge technology to solve meaningful problems alongside a talented team—we'd love to have you join us. The Role We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Operations Test Engineer to join our growing team. This role is crucial to the success of our product lifecycle, bridging the gap between development and deployment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of hands-on testing expertise and a foundational understanding of test architecture design. You will be responsible for defining, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans that validate our robotic systems' performance, reliability, and operational readiness in real-world environments. This role requires close collaboration with both the engineering development and operations teams. Key Responsibilities Test Strategy and Design
Test Plan Development: Partner with hardware and software development teams early in the concept phase to design comprehensive, end-to-end test plans and strategies.
Requirements Traceability: Ensure all test plans are directly traceable to product requirements, user stories, and operational specifications.
Test Architecture: Design and implement test fixtures, jigs, and automated test scripts (both hardware and software) necessary for efficient and repeatable testing.
Tool Development: Select, configure, and maintain testing tools and equipment to support both manual and automated testing efforts. Test Execution and Reporting
Execution: Conduct rigorous functional, performance, endurance, environmental, and operational readiness testing on robotic hardware, embedded systems, and control software.
Defect Management: Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects and performance issues using established bug tracking systems. Collaborate with engineering to verify fixes.
Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret test data, using statistical methods to provide clear, actionable insights into product quality and areas for improvement.
Reporting: Generate detailed test reports, including executive summaries, failure analysis, and recommendations for operational deployment readiness. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Integration Testing: Lead integration testing efforts between different robotic subsystems (e.g., mechanical, electrical, firmware, and high-level control software).
Partnership with Development: Work closely with the Development team to define and validate a variety of test from subsystem to product level verification and validation
Continuous Improvement: Participate in design reviews, root cause analysis (RCA) sessions, and post-mortem discussions to continuously improve product design and testing processes. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field. 2+ years of experience in product testing, quality assurance, or validation, preferably within a robotics, hardware, or industrial automation environment. Demonstrated experience in designing and documenting formal test plans, test cases, and test procedures from scratch based on high-level product specifications. Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for test automation and data analysis. Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or similar system-level testing. Strong understanding of data acquisition systems, sensor validation, and instrumentation. Preferred Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, Modbus, CAN). Familiarity with environmental testing standards (e.g., shock, vibration, thermal). Experience with common robotic operating systems or frameworks (e.g., ROS). Coding languages such as Python, C++, RUST and SQL Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) or other data-driven quality methodologies. Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, Linear, Testiny). Our roles are often flexible. If you don't fit all the criteria, or are in another location (especially one where we have an office like SF or NY) please apply anyway! We'd love to consider you.
