Job Description
An experienced Technical Automation Architect (Offshore - Preferable location Kochi/TVM) to lead and guide the automation engineering team in executing the QE transformation roadmap. This role will define and evolve scalable automation frameworks, accelerate automation adoption across web, mobile, API & DB layers, and embed modern practices such as CI/CD integration, standardized quality gates, and AI assisted automation where applicable
Key Responsibilities
Automation Architecture & Framework Leadership Define and implement scalable, maintainable automation architecture for web, mobile, and API testing. Establish automation standards (coding guidelines, design patterns like POM, reusable libraries, reporting) and ensure consistent implementation across the offshore team Drive framework modernization to support cross-browser/device execution via cloud test platforms / test grids and integrations Shift-Left & CI/CD Enablement Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and shift-left validation Define quality gates, coverage expectations, and automation readiness criteria for teams3) Tooling, Platforms & Engineering Excellence Tooling and Platforms
Lead Implementation And Governance For
Selenium + Java automation for web UI Appium for mobile automation API automation (e.g., Rest Assured/Postman-based approaches where applicable) TestGrid Automation Sauce Labs / Test grid execution strategy for scale and stability Evaluate and onboard tools/approaches through POCs, and standardize what works for the program Agile Delivery & Jira/ADO Collaboration Partner with Product Owners, Tower leads, Dev, DevOps, and QA leads to ensure requirements are testable and automation is planned early. Use Jira effectively for story/test tracking, defect lifecycle, dashboards, and execution reporting. Mentoring, Reviews & Offshore Execution Governance Mentor SDETs/automation engineers, perform design/code reviews, and enforce engineering best practices.
Drive delivery governance: sprint planning support, automation progress reporting, root-cause analysis for flaky tests, and stabilization plans. AI-Assisted Automation Contribute to adoption of AI-assisted automation use cases (e.g., test generation, script acceleration, self-healing concepts) and guide the team on practical implementation with human-in-the-loop quality controls
Required Skills & Experience
8-14+ years in QA automation / SDET / test architecture roles with strong hands-on engineering ownership. Strong expertise in Selenium WebDriver with Java and Appium automation framework design, and test engineering practices. Strong experience with API testing/automation (REST validation, automation frameworks). Tosca knowledge is added advantage
