Must-have skills

  • Ability to coordinate/negotiate with customers and overseas AISIN facilities.

  • ASQ CQE certification and/or Six Sigma certification.

Job Title: Quality Engineer

Department: Quality, Customer Quality Engineering (CQE)

Location: Northville, MI

Position Summary

This position will function to provide support to the Warranty department while supporting quality functions in North America.

Position Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position

Support warranty claim reduction by leading activities held jointly with AISIN manufacturing, design, and our customer teams.

Collection and analysis of warranty claim data to understand trends in data. The reporting of this information to both internal teams and external customers is a critical requirement for this position.

Monthly warranty review meetings with the AISIN NA plants (NAP) and engineering teams (ATCA).

Participate in new project launch “OBEYA” activity to achieve Early Detection/Early Resolution (EDER) of issues found in early market period.

Create customer warranty cost share packages using the respective customer-defined process

Support Go & See investigation activities to understand issues and voice of the customer for No Trouble Found (NTF) reduction.

Provide periodic warranty reports to Quality management with a clear and visual understanding of the current warranty status (Frequency determined by Quality management).

Review warranty return claim recovery parts, perform initial analysis of parts, and monitor customer due dates for analysis reporting.

Advanced problem-solving skills to identify root cause and develop action plan for returned warranty parts.

Support activities shown in association with the Aisin North American Quality Assurance annual job plan as well as the AISIN NA long term business plan.

Assist in the development of operational (Quality) manuals and training material for identified key quality methods and concepts. Plan, schedule, and deliver training sessions, as needed/requested, by AWA management or NAP locations.

Work closely with AISIN Group Companies and NAP locations to develop a “One AISIN” team attitude.

Required Skills and Abilities

Essential Skills and Experience

3 - 5 years of experience in Quality / Warranty Engineer Role (Warranty Analysis, Parts Review, Cost Share)

Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite (primary focus on MS Excel).

Ability to coordinate and negotiate with customer and overseas AISIN facilities.

Comfortable learning unique or exclusive software in use at AISIN (General Computer Skills).

Root cause analysis and problem-solving capability. (Core Quality Skills, such as FTA, 8D, Six Sigma, 5Why.)

Core Documents: Control Plan and PFMEA.

Beneficial Skills and Experience

Knowledge of 7 Basic QC Tools.

Certified ASQ CQE certification, Six Sigma certification.

Working knowledge of MS Access is beneficial.

Working knowledge of Business Intelligence tools is beneficial. (MS Power BI, etc.).
