Role & seniority: Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Thermal technology and quality focus (8–10+ years preferred)
Stack/tools: Quality and reliability tools (Cpk, 8D, DOE, FMEA, RCCA, FA); RMA/CAR/Root Cause analysis; supplier interface and process controls; NPI readiness; data generation/management for quality metrics
Ensure quality and reliability of thermal deliverables across the product life cycle; lead cross-functional NPI readiness in the supply chain
Define and implement processes to collect and manage quality data; work with suppliers to drive RMAs, CARs, RCAs, and failure analysis
Establish quality programs and controls for early issue detection (e.g., Cpk, 8D, DOE, FMEA) and manage on-site supplier governance
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Thermal Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
8+ years in thermal technology and manufacturing; experience in statistical product quality control, process capability, reliability, failure analysis, and process improvement
Master’s degree or higher in related field
Quality certifications (CQE, CQM, CRE, CQA)
10+ years in Quality/Reliability within thermal technology; understanding of end-to-end thermal management (infrastructure to chip) and next-gen cooling
Ability to travel

The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.
